Important Uses of Gems in Astrology
Multifunctional gems are a household name, as most people have some or the other gemstone in a metallic ring inserted in their finger. Gem-studded jewelry is not only valued as precious accessory, but is also worn for its great effects in healing certain ailments. Astrologers have repeatedly suggested wearing of certain gems according to one’s birth stars and the place of birth. It is believed that the karmas or deeds of past lives form the lifelines of our current life. Therefore, different people have different kinds of gems prescribed for them. For instance, a ruby might work wonders for one person, but have harmful effects if a person of an unmatchable star-sign wears it. The healing and astrological benefits of gems have been known since ages, but the chemical properties of gems have been disclosed only in the recent times.
Gems emit various frequencies of energy to offset any deficiencies found in the human body. The deficiency occurs because of an imbalance in the five basic elements water, air, earth, fire and ether. The most common gems used in astrology are ruby, red coral, pearl, emerald, yellow and blue sapphire, and the most common of all, diamond. Out of these, ruby is considered the oldest gemstone. According to classical Indian astrology, ruby represents the ruler of the solar system - the sun. Natural pearl, on the other hand represents the moon, and is considered good for healing issues related to the mind. Due to their effect on one’s mental state, pearls are highly sought after. Emeralds are treated as holy gemstones and are helpful in promoting academic excellence and educational achievements amongst the younger generation. According to astrology, a diamond wearer has a luxurious life and his or her financial status improves significantly.
How to test the genuineness of gems
In the past, the identification of gems was done based on human judgment and intelligence. However, with advanced technology at our disposal lately, the genuineness and originality of gems is no longer an issue. Gems are now tested scientifically in labs, ruling out any possibilities of fraud. For instance, in order to check the authenticity of a piece of diamond, look out for milk patches or dark black spots, which are sometimes visible by the naked eye or under a magnifying glass. In absence of these signs, chances are that it is a mere piece of glass. Also, a diamond reflects all the light entering from its front from the back facets.
Astrology is considered incomplete in absence of the complementary gems therapy. Gems help counter the ill effects of malevolent planets and and are responsible for bringing balance and harmony in a wearer’s life.
