Suduko is an interesting numbers game. It is one of the favorite puzzle games of the Americans today. Although Suduko revolves around numbers, there is no mathematics involved in it. However, you have to use a lot of brains to play it. The amazing thing is that even an illiterate can play Suduko, as it does not require any schooling or knowledge. Any person with a sharp mind can try his or her hand at Suduko.

What Is Suduko?
Suduko is a game to test your logical and reasoning ability. This puzzle comprises of a 9x9 grid, which is divided into 3x3 sub grids. They are known as boxes or blocks or, sometimes, regions. Thus, the game consists of total 81 squares. There are numbers scribbled in some of these squares, while the remaining squares are void. The numbers are from 1 to 9.

The aim of this game is to have the numbers 1 to 9 in each and every row, column, and block in such a manner that they are not repeated even once. And the excitement of the puzzle lies in the fact that you have to achieve this aim within a time limit. You cannot linger on with the game as per your convenience.

Who Invented Suduko?
The name Suduko means, “the digits must remain single”. It is believed to be originated in Japan in the 18th century. However, some say that, this mind-blowing game is of Chinese origins. Suduko lies the concept of magic squares. These were sacred squares and used for religious and astrological purposes by the ancient Chinese, Greeks, and Babylonians.

The Suduko Craze
Suduko was introduced in the US in 1979, in a puzzle book. However, it had only a few takers then. Although it was already a popular game in Japan, it failed to grip the minds of the Americans initially. However, as time passed, Suduko began to carve a space for itself in computers, top magazines, books, and even television. Today, Americans are crazy about Suduko. Some of them are such addicts that their day starts with a game of Suduko and ends with it! Suduko has not cast its magic in the US, but also across the globe. This puzzle game has received a tremendous response from far off continents too.

One of the best examples of Suduko mania is the world Suduko championship that was held in Lucca, Italy, in March 2006. This was the first championship of its kind. Now, what can we say more about this incredible mind game!
