Customer Review: Here it is a book about adventure and action, emotion and death. The memoirs of a boy soldier. The war in South Africa took its toll on thousands of people, emotionally and physically. Poverty plagues Ishmael Beah in Along Way Gone. Along Way Gone should be read by adults only. The book uses... more info
Customer Review: This is indeed a great book, then the ancient Chinese might not fully know what to do in warfare. But now this book as well as too many other books tells us only what to do, does not tell us how to do. The issue of how to do is perhaps the most difficult point in any activity.
Customer Review: Ambrose is the master historian. He made history interesting again. He does it by telling the stories of regular people -- not armies, not generals, not national leaders, but rather, the common GI Joe. He did all veterans a great service in his writing. He will be missed. Don't think you know this... more info
Customer Review: Grossman's work is always good and he is one of the pioneers in this field. He deserves his accolades but having read his other texts "On Killing ..." and "Teaching our kids to kill..." I am a fan but noticed the information repeating itself. In truth I was a bit disappointed in that but will never... more info
Customer Review: Unbelievable. The experiences and lessons Mr Blaber has shared here should without a doubt put this on recommended reading list issued by every Chief of Staff, and should be read by every officer and NCO from the gound up! "Need To Share"! I couldn't out it down, and read it twice in 10 days! I... more info
Customer Review: Macbeth could have been talking about this book when he said: It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing. For a book about the largest private military contractor and the man who leads it, you would think the author would give a little more than... more info
Customer Review: This book is ideal for carrying with you everywhere. Don't be deceived by its small size, because it contains everything you need to know. It tells you specifically how to build shelters, fire, animal and fish traps, collect and find water, and first aid for even serious injuries. There are pictures... more info
Customer Review: Though I do not buy into the book's opening premise that life is essentially a zero-sum, win-lose affair that puts us into perpetual conflict with each other, there is much to be learned from this extensive work on how human conflict in general and wars in particular are fought and won. It basically... more info
Customer Review: December 29th, 1980, I arrived at the same Marine Corps boot camp which welcomed EB Sledge nearly 40 years before. With the Old Breed (WTOB) makes it perfectly clear why the stress and hardship of the Marine Corps boot camp experience is necessary. Thankfully, my generation was spared the subsequent... more info
Customer Review: This is a page turner. It reads almost like a novel but it's a true story. There's a lot of time spent on training portion but it's really good. I first got this for my wife after we started watching "The Unit" (season one). She read it right away. I finally got around to reading it and I wish... more info
