Unattractive graphics I bought this set together with 2 other Phonics Boxed set for my 3-year-old girl. It turns out that this set is not touched at all, since it's only black and white printing. And the illustration is too simple and the characters are not popular, unlike the other characters that are seen on TV. So it's not been really useful at all!
Love to read My five year old son loves reading these books. It has totally taken the battle out of reading time. The books are fun and catchy. It has made reading time so much more enjoyable. I highly reccomend these books.
great for emerging reader My daughter (like most kids) need encouragement and confidence when reading. This set helps build that by starting out with simpler words and building upon them. She likes the "process", too of working her way through the set--"graduating" if you will, from one book to another. Great value, as well!
GREAT confidence builder My 5 year old daughter's first reaction was..... "where are the colorful pictures- I do not want to read with out the colorful pictures....." Then she gave it a try and enjoys this set so much, that she even brings them in the car to read to her little brother. When read in sequence, the words get a little longer and a little more challenging. To see her smile and tell me "how easy it is to read" is worth not having bright illustrations!!!
